I wanted to try allegro today but i couldnt even install it. Ive tried it on both dev-c++ and code::blocks but none of tutorials which have i found on internet worked. At the moment i have allegro and directx (i heard something like that allegro needs directx SDK to work) in my PC, i showed dev-c++ where is alegro include folder and directx lib and include folders but it is still not able to build simpliest allegro application. Can you guys please tell me what do i have to do next or/and what have i done wrong? Thanks.

if you have the compiled dll of allegro then you don't need directx sdk only need the libraries that link to the dll
however if you have static libs or want to build allegro then you need dx sdk
